AssetWise CONNECT Edition Help

To Create Locations for Point Assets

Follow these steps to define a location for a point asset.

  1. Open the asset that you want to add its location, and select the Map tab. By default, this tab displays a list of locations for the asset, by route and offset.
  2. From the Actions menu, select Add Location, and then By map.
The map view appears. If the asset is defined as having point geometry, then the cursor changes into a push pin ( ), and the Add Location dialog appears.
  3. Change the magnification or positioning of the map by using the appropriate map tools. For more information, see Working with Maps.
  4. Choose the position of the asset location, by clicking on the map. AssetWise will automatically attempt to derive a network location from nearby network elements. If a match is found, the grid displays the each linear element information and you must select one. For example:
Note: The Retrieve network locations option must be selected, in order for the conversion to linear locations to appear.
  5. If Independent shape is selected, thenAssetWise saves the independent shape location in addition to the linear element information, otherwise, only the linear element information is stored, and then all locations must be entered via Route and Offset.
  6. You can select the XSP and JXP locations, and accept or edit the Start date.
  7. When you are finished, click Save location.
Note: When a network location is saved using the map, its previously defined network location using route and off-set will be overwritten.
The asset location is saved.
